Whether a grown-up or a child, Coorg is an ideal holiday destination that excites all.
While you will never run out of places to visit in Coorg, if you are holidaying here with your family, be sure to visit these four magnificent peaks:
Brahmagiri – One of the famous peaks in Coorg
Situated around 106 kilometres from Madikeri, Brahmagiri Peak is a sight to behold. Hills hiding behind clouds, colourful flowers and sparkling streams of water are part of this divine landscape.
You will find every shade of green painted across the grasslands. The Brahmagiri peak is 1608 metres above sea level. It also has a wildlife sanctuary with the same name. It is one of the most beautiful peaks in Coorg.
About 20 kilometres from Madikeri, Mandalpatti is considered the best peak to trek in Coorg. Its mesmerising natural beauty makes it a must-visit for nature lovers.
Madalpatti is part of the Pushpagiri Forest Reserve and is 1234 metres above sea level. In the local language, Mandalpatti is also known as ‘Mugilu-Peth’ or ‘Mugilu-Pete’, which means Market of Cloud (Mist). True to its name, you can see stunning mist-covered mountains from the peak.
Best known as a trekking spot, Nishani Motte is popular among the people of Bengaluru. The trekking trail comes under Tala Cauvery Wildlife Sanctuary, which is home to wild animals such as elephants and leopards.
The trek, about 40 kilometres from Madikeri, is guided by the Tala Cauvery Forest Department. The trail takes you through lush forests, meadows, a ridge walk, all the way to the summit, which is 1250 metres above sea level.
Located in the heart of Madikeri, Raja’s Seat is the most famous spot in Coorg. Legend has it that it is named so because the kings would like to come here in the evenings to look at the sunset and spend time with their queens. Raja’s Seat is surrounded by beautiful gardens and fountains and offers a stunning view of the hills and valleys.
